  • How to help children teach themselves through exploration and critical thinking.  In other words give the environment to foster learning independently.
  • Follow district curriculum and state standards and communicate them to parents in a way that can be understood.
  • Give parents various ways to actively volunteer and participate in their child’s learning.  This includes inside the classroom and at home.
  • Provide differential instruction so all children can learn and be challenged.  Many times this includes brainstorming ideas with a team of cohorts and administrators and parents, to formulate and execute plans to assist a child achieve/progress in areas needing assistance.
  • Work with a wide variety of students and environments from children with special needs, children who are advanced, high and low economic neighborhoods as well as students whose primary language is not English. 
  • Most importantly, get students to enjoy school so they become life long learners.

Who is Amanda Gerber?

My husband and I moved from Southern California to North Bend in, 2001.  We have since moved to Snoqualmie and love the valley life.  We have two wonderful little boys, a dog, cat and three water frogs. 

I enjoy running and going to the gym whenever I can – which is not that often lately.  If you would like a running partner, please let me know because I need one to stay motivated.

Having taught at Cascade View and Snoqualmie Elementary School, it is nice to know so many parents of past students, students and friends. I love to see all of you when I am out and about.  The majority of clients that I tutor are past students or referrals.  I have added the Kindergarten Enrichment sessions for the 2009-2010 school year due to several unsolicited requests. 

I enjoy teaching students through my roll as a tutor for the community.  In the course of an afternoon, I may be teaching a kindergartner how to blend sounds together to read c-a-t…cat, helping another student with a quadratic equation for an algebraic homework assignment to brainstorming an essay on Romeo and Juliet.  Needless to say, my job is wonderful and different.
